Dr Susann Power

Dr Susann Power is a Lecturer in Hospitality Management at the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ulster University Business School.


Prior to joining the department, Susann held the following academic posts: Lecturer in Business Ethics at the University of Surrey, and Teaching Fellow in Marketing at Ulster University Business School, where she was also appointed to Course Director for the MSc Marketing programme. Susann has ample industry experience; firstly, as Policy Initiatives Manager at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), and further as Operations Manager at environmental charity Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. At WTTC, Susann was responsible for the successful execution of the coveted Tourism for Tomorrow Awards – a global, sustainable tourism award. Susann has been instrumental in launching Green Key in Northern Ireland – an eco-certification for the hospitality industry.


Susann’s expertise and research interests lie in the field of sustainability in business and tourism, business ethics and entrepreneurship. She holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Surrey, and MSc in Tourism, Environment and Development from King’s College London. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In her spare time, Susann volunteers as a Marine Litter Surveyor and as an Eco-Schools Assessor. She is also an active member of the Ards and North Down Beach Cleaners and the Women in Business Choir.
